Meeting the Standards

We take safety testing very seriously, testing our machines against a number of different standards.

Our testing starts in the engineering department where we use state-of-the-art computer software and diagnostic equipment to perform a battery of tests, including Stress Analysis tests (FEA), long before any of our designs hit the production floor.

Some of the Standards we test against

CSA - Our forklifts also are compliant with CSA B335-04 (which refers to ANSI B56) under the Canadian Standards Association.

ANSI - ANSI B56 (American National Standards Institute) is the US set of guidelines used for standards and safety rules regarding rough terrain forklifts. This code requires longitudinal and lateral stability tests, used to cover stacking, loading, and machine travel (both loaded and unloaded). The test itself is accomplished utilizing a device called a “tilt table” (see images above) ANSI B56 requires that any structural design change in our rough terrain forklifts requires re-testing the updated machine in order to confirm its adherence to these rigid principles.

We either meet or exceed all B56 ANSI requirements.

CE MARKING - Manufacturer’s or importer’s self-declaration mark. Products which conform with all the relevant directives can bear the CE Marking (CE = European Community). Allows products to be sold anywhere in the EC. CE Marking will be mandatory for most products in the EU.

ISO - when required for military and mining applications, we also test our machines to ISO Standards (see picture of steering test above).

Testing facilities
Prototype machines undergo stringent Strain Tests, Sound Tests and Emissions Tests during various stages of manufacturing to ensure that they meet standards as well as Omega Lift's own Quality Control.

Omega Lift is one of the few rough terrain manufacturers that has its own tilt platform at our manufacturing facility in order to conduct onsite testing on our machines.

Testing then moves outside to this testing centre for Tilt Testing. Components of our testing capabilities include Calibrated weight testing and different drop tests before the machines face the rigors of our field-simulated rough-terrain driving course.
